Metinvest invests over UAH 18 million to support Avdiivka

22 May 2019

Metivest Group's Avdiivka Coke and Chemicals Plant (Avdiivka Coke) and the local administration signed a Social Partnership Agreement for 2019. Funding for social programs will amount to UAH 18.1 million.

The agreement was signed by Musa Magomedov, Avdiivka Coke's general director, and Pavel Malykhin, head of the local military and civil administration.

Over seven years of cooperation Metinvest has invested more than UAH 70 million into the development of Avdiivka. The funds were invested in the restoration of the city vital functions, repair of schools and kindergartens, infrastructure development, creation of conditions for active life style of people in Avdiivka, support of healthcare system and provision of assistance to socially vulnerable populations.

Avdiivka Coke will repair the surgical department at the city hospital and keep on creating the Children and Youth Development Centre this year within the framework of the cooperation with the city. The plant workers walk the talk, and children in Avdiivka will be getting one sports hall a year. The coke and chemicals plant will keep on working toward fulfilling the dream of many people in Avdiivka - a swimming pool.  Avdiivka's mainstay enterprise has already provided the city's bus fleet with the third passenger bus and plans to construct modern bus stop shelters.

Musa Magomedov, general director of Avdiivka Coke, commented:

"The city and the plant share one future. Our people live here, and we want the city to develop and be comfortable.  We provide jobs and timely salaries to almost four thousand local residents. The plant is Avdiivka's largest taxpayer. I am sure, due to the fruitful work of the city and the plant, we will successfully implement our plans."

Pavel Malykhin, head of military and civil administration in Avdiivka, said:

"We have merely formalized the relationship between Avdiivka Coke and the city. In the meantime, the plant started to implement this year's social projects long time ago. By signing this Agreement, we have taken an important step that means real changes for the better. Most importantly, business and government trust each other, which helps us move forward in one direction."
