Metinvest is an international vertically integrated metal and mining company initiated building of the second coal tar pitch granulation plant at Avdiivka Coke Plant that is the raw material to be used in non-ferrous metallurgy and chemical industry. Setting into operation of this plant will increase this kind of production output up to 60 thousand tons per year at Avdiivka Coke. This plant is to be put into operation in 2012.
The new building to locate the granulation plant is being built at the moment at the coke-pitch shop site. The modern environmental protection technology called Rotoform is going to be used in the new plant as it had been used at the first one. Rotoform is the manufacturer of the industrial equipment of Sandvik company.
This technology includes dosing granulate-generating device and belt conveyor with cooling system composing herein the system to produce the granulates of absolutely homogeneous form, strength and quality that not affect the environment, completely excluding the pollution of environment (water).
As opposed to the liquid pitch also manufactured by the coke-pitch shop the granulated pitch is suitable to deliver not only be truck but also by sea. It significantly allows to enlarge its sales geography and find new consumer’s markets and reducing in this regard the costs to deliver and storage it. Our plant delivers the granulated electrode coal pitch to the manufactures in Russia, Egypt, Romania, Tajikistan.
The granulated electrode coal pitch output at Avdiivka Coke was firstly arranged in 2005 when the first coal pitch granulation plant was put into operation with designed capacity four tons per hour.
The expected project discounted payback period is 3,3 years.
